Between now and December 31st GoDaddy has two excellent deals. You can obtain their economy web hosting for just $1.99 for 3 months. They are also giving private registrations for free. A private registration guards your details such as name, phone, email and address. You can obtain as many domains, either new or transfers, and take advantage of their private registrations as you like.
Also Verisign is increasing domain prices by 7% on January 15th, 2012. If you do want to obtain new domains you may want to do so before the end of the year to both beat the 7% increase and have free private registrations on each.
